★★★★★“Spend the extra to get it refurbished!”Dustin, Etsy review

This 1960s Helen Hobey Baker king headboard is built around a long, shallow peaked crest that rises gently to the center and falls away toward each end. Along the top runs a recessed band of figured burl, framed in dark trim and broken into sections by small vertical blocks, set above a broad panel of walnut with a warm, flowing grain. The contrast between the lively burl and the calmer walnut below gives the headboard a strong horizontal line across the wall.

The headboard stands on two legs and is sized for a king bed, with the wide, low profile giving the bedroom a clear focal point without overwhelming it. Its slim depth keeps it close to the wall, and the extra width beyond the mattress leaves room on each side for bedside tables to tuck in beneath the burl crest.

This headboard is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use including surface wear, finish inconsistencies, and minor imperfections throughout. These characteristics contribute to the original vintage appeal and authenticity that many collectors appreciate. For those looking for a fully refinished example, we also offer a restored option. Restoration includes a complete professional refinishing process with sanding, staining, glazing, toning, and lacquering, along with functional adjustments to ensure the frame is solid and square and the headboard is ready for everyday use.
