This 1960s Helen Hobey Baker highboy dresser pairs walnut and burl in a design with a strong, almost formal presence. The front is divided into four tall walnut panels separated by dark trim strips, and at the center an elongated hexagonal outline is carved around a textured brass pull with a radiating sunburst pattern. A raised upper section faced in figured burl sits above the main case, and the whole dresser rests on a dark stretcher base with squared, slightly tapered legs.

The front panels fold open as doors to reveal a fully fitted interior. Two burl faced drawers sit at the top, open cubbies run across the middle for folded items, and three deep drawers with gently curved fronts fill the lower half. Keeping the drawers behind doors gives the dresser a clean, cabinet like face in the room while still offering real clothing storage, and the scale works in a bedroom or as a dressing cabinet in a larger closet.

This highboy dresser is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use including surface wear, finish inconsistencies, and minor imperfections throughout. These characteristics contribute to the original vintage appeal and authenticity that many collectors appreciate. For those looking for a fully refinished example, we also offer a restored option. Restoration includes a complete professional refinishing process with sanding, staining, glazing, toning, and lacquering, along with functional adjustments to ensure all drawers and doors operate smoothly and the dresser is ready for everyday use.
