This 1960s Cavalier Corporation bookcase headboard is a standout example of American mid century modern bedroom design, built at Cavalier's Chattanooga, Tennessee factory. Crafted in richly figured walnut veneer, the headboard presents a bold open-shelf architecture that elevates it well beyond a standard panel design.
The design is organized around three open display compartments โ two wide upper shelf openings flanking a central vertical divider, with a recessed lower center shelf. Thin brass accent strips run along the front posts, adding a refined metallic detail that was a hallmark of Cavalier's premium bedroom collections. The two squared end posts provide sturdy support and give the piece its clean, architecturally precise profile.
This headboard is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use. These characteristics appeal to those who appreciate the original character and history of a vintage piece. For those seeking a fully refreshed look, we also offer a restored option. Restoration includes a full professional refinishing process involving sanding, staining, glazing, toning, and lacquering, along with functional adjustments to ensure long-term durability and a smooth, even finish.
