This striking 1960s lowboy dresser by husband and wife team Helen Hobey Baker is a standout example of sculptural modernism blended with Asian-inspired detailing. The long, architectural silhouette is balanced by four cabinet doors, each showcasing rich walnut grain and oversized pierced brass medallions. Inside, a total of nine drawers provide generous storage, with sculpted fronts and curved detailing that echo the elegant lines of the case. The raised frame and brass-capped feet add a sense of lightness and refinement to the substantial form.
Helen Hobey Baker’s work is celebrated for its blend of global influences and high craftsmanship, and this piece exemplifies that legacy. Whether styled as a statement credenza, media console, or bedroom dresser, it brings bold design and exceptional functionality. Choose “as-is” or select the restored option for a professionally refinished surface that highlights the depth and beauty of the walnut veneer.
