This 1960s Young Manufacturing lowboy dresser blends mid-century modern lines with the sculptural, decorative flair the company became known for. The clean rectangular case is anchored on a wide recessed plinth base, giving the dresser a grounded silhouette while keeping the profile light. On the left, three full-width drawers feature the brand’s signature carved swoop handles—an organic, almost calligraphic shape that adds movement to the otherwise streamlined walnut fronts.
On the right, a sliding door reveals generous interior storage and is accented with three ornate, shield-shaped appliqués—high-relief carvings that introduce a touch of Brutalist influence without overpowering the design. The warm walnut finish highlights the natural grain, creating an inviting contrast between the smooth planes and the more detailed carved elements. Functional, well-built, and visually striking, this Young Manufacturing dresser is a standout example of decorative American mid-century modern design.
