This 1960s Tobago lowboy dresser is a sculptural piece of Canadian mid century modern design, built in walnut with a long, low, architectural profile. A central bank of drawers is flanked on either side by cabinet doors carved with elongated, leaf-like raised panels, creating a rhythmic play of light across the front. The case floats on a dramatic splayed base of sculpted, pointed legs joined by a curved stretcher, a base treatment that gives the substantial form a surprising lightness.

The three center drawers have softly shaped fronts with recessed wooden pulls and handle everyday storage for folded clothing, while the flanking right cabinet opens to enclosed space for larger items and the left side features three drawers. The generous top offers room for a mirror, lamps, or a display, and the long horizontal stance suits a bedroom or a living space used as a credenza. Warm, well matched walnut grain carries across the drawer fronts, doors, and case sides for a unified, considered look.

This lowboy dresser is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use including surface wear, finish inconsistencies, and minor imperfections throughout. These characteristics contribute to the original vintage appeal and authenticity that many collectors appreciate. For those looking for a fully refinished example, we also offer a restored option. Restoration includes a complete professional refinishing process with sanding, staining, glazing, toning, and lacquering, along with functional adjustments to ensure all drawers and doors operate smoothly and the dresser is ready for everyday use.

Condition & Restoration

We photograph each piece in its current condition and offer two ways to purchase: as-pictured or restored. This approach gives you a clear and honest view of the item and allows you to choose the level of finish that best suits your needs.

As-Pictured:
Choosing the as-pictured option means youโ€™ll receive the item in its current state with light cleaning and basic touch-ups completed in our warehouse. We ensure that drawers, doors, and structural elements are functional, but no deep refinishing work is performed. This option is ideal for those who appreciate the charm and patina of original vintage finishes, want to avoid additional restoration costs, or prefer a quicker turnaround without the lead time required for refinishing. It's also a great choice if youโ€™re a collector or designer looking to integrate the piece into a space with a lived-in aesthetic.

Restored:
Selecting the restored option includes our full professional refinishing process. Once selected, the piece is transported to our workshop, where we address surface damage like lacquer failure, chips, water marks, and deep scratches. Our team sands, stains, and seals each surface where appropriate, restoring the finish while preserving the character of the original design. We also carefully adjust doors, drawers, and hardware to ensure smooth operation and reliable function. The result is a fully restored vintage furniture piece, ready for daily use and built to last for decades to come.

This dual-option model gives you the flexibility to choose whatโ€™s right for your space, style, and timelineโ€”without compromising on quality or transparency.

Note:
Some items may only be available for purchase with restoration included. In these cases, the original condition does not meet our standards for resale without a full professional refinish.
This ensures that every piece we shipโ€”restored or otherwiseโ€”meets the level of quality and functionality we stand behind.

Conversely, certain itemsโ€”such as lighting, upholstered pieces, or otherwiseโ€”are only offered as-pictured, as we typically donโ€™t refinish these types of items.
