This 1960s Tobago highboy dresser is a sculptural example of Canadian mid century modern design, built in walnut with a strong, architectural presence. The upper cabinet wears a pair of doors carved with elongated, leaf-like raised panels that run across the front in a rhythmic vertical pattern, catching light and shadow. The whole case is lifted on a dramatic splayed base of sculpted, pointed legs joined by a curved cross stretcher, giving the tall form an unexpected sense of lift and movement.
Behind the upper doors sits three drawers of enclosed storage, while the lower section holds two long, deep drawers with softly shaped fronts and recessed wooden pulls. The tall, narrow footprint makes the most of vertical space in a bedroom, and the sculptural base lets the piece read as a design object rather than an ordinary dresser. Warm walnut grain runs across the drawer fronts and case sides, tying the storage and the sculpted legs into one cohesive form.

Restored:
Selecting the restored option includes our full professional refinishing process. Once selected, the piece is transported to our workshop, where we address surface damage like lacquer failure, chips, water marks, and deep scratches. Our team sands, stains, and seals each surface where appropriate, restoring the finish while preserving the character of the original design. We also carefully adjust doors, drawers, and hardware to ensure smooth operation and reliable function. The result is a fully restored vintage furniture piece, ready for daily use and built to last for decades to come.
