This 1960s Specialty Woodcraft highboy dresser is built as two walnut cases stacked off center, with the top section set to one side of the longer base for a stepped, asymmetric outline. Each case has a sliding door carved with a single sculpted diamond in raised relief, and long slotted pulls run across the drawer fronts in dark horizontal lines that play against the vertical diamond. Tapered, splayed legs carry the base and give the whole composition a light, confident stance.

Because the top section rests on the base rather than being fixed to it, the dresser can stay stacked as a highboy or be separated into two pieces for different rooms. The top section holds two stacks of drawers, with its sliding door covering one side at a time. The base pairs two long drawers with a second sliding door that moves along the front to reveal more drawers at the end. The open ledge beside the top section gives you a spot for a lamp, a tray, or a few favorite things.
