This 1960s Specialty Woodcraft stacking highboy dresser is a rare, eclectic design built as two separate walnut cases. Both tiers carry the maker's boldly sculpted diamond relief on sliding door fronts, paired with long slotted wooden pulls that run the width of each drawer. The offset stack, with the top chest set to one side of the longer base, creates a stepped, asymmetric silhouette, and the sculpted splayed legs give the whole composition a strong architectural footing.
Because the top chest simply rests on the base, the dresser is genuinely modular. Keep it stacked as a highboy, slide the upper case to either side of the base, or separate the two pieces entirely and use them in different rooms. Sliding doors on both tiers conceal banks of drawers, and the open ledge on the base works as display or landing space. It is a lot of storage that can be reconfigured whenever the room changes.
This dresser is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use including surface wear, finish inconsistencies, and minor imperfections throughout. Restored:
Selecting the restored option includes our full professional refinishing process. Once selected, the piece is transported to our workshop, where we address surface damage like lacquer failure, chips, water marks, and deep scratches. Our team sands, stains, and seals each surface where appropriate, restoring the finish while preserving the character of the original design. We also carefully adjust doors, drawers, and hardware to ensure smooth operation and reliable function. The result is a fully restored vintage furniture piece, ready for daily use and built to last for decades to come.
