★★★★★“Spend the extra to get it refurbished!”Dustin, Etsy review

This 1960s Mid Century Modern highboy dresser designed by Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture is a bold example of Hollywood Regency–leaning modernism executed with precision and restraint. The tall, architectural silhouette is finished in deep black lacquer, giving the piece a sleek, monolithic presence that feels both dramatic and refined. Distinctive chrome “X” pulls punctuate each drawer, creating a rhythmic, graphic contrast against the dark surface while underscoring Frankl’s signature blend of elegance and modern simplicity.

The dresser’s vertical proportions make it an impressive yet practical storage piece, with a clean, structured profile that feels substantial without appearing bulky. The flush drawer fronts, tight lines, and smooth lacquered case lend the piece a cohesive, polished look from every angle, while the gleaming chrome hardware adds just the right amount of metallic sheen. The overall design reads as confident and purposeful—equally at home in a minimalist interior or a more layered, high-style space.

As pictured, this dresser is in vintage original condition and shows honest signs of age and use, including surface wear, light scratches, and patina consistent with its history, all visible in the photos. Prior to shipping, it will receive a routine cleaning and light touch-ups to help it present at its best while preserving its original character. Alternatively, the dresser can be vintage restored upon request, which would include a full professional refinish—sanded down, sprayed, and lacquered—for a refreshed, more uniform appearance.
