Lane Staccato Brutalist Two Piece China Cabinet and Hutch

This 1970s Lane Staccato china cabinet puts the collection's brutalist block work front and center. Raised walnut blocks in different sizes and depths are layered across the tall right hand door of the hutch and the doors at each end of the buffet, building a mosaic surface that changes as light moves across it. Between the block panels, the drawer fronts and case sides are left plain to show the warm, figured walnut grain, and slim brass bar pulls add a quiet accent. A recessed plinth base keeps the lower case from feeling heavy, and the hutch sits set back from the front edge of the buffet.

The cabinet is built as two separate cases, so the buffet can stand on its own in a dining room or entry, or carry the hutch as a full china cabinet. The hutch has a pair of glass doors over glass shelves, with a textured amber back panel that sets off glassware and dishes, plus enclosed storage behind the block front door. In the buffet, two wide drawers run down the center with a shelved cabinet at each end, so flatware and linens have their own place apart from larger serving pieces. A drawer carries the Lane Altavista, Virginia stamp, and both cases are stamped with their serial numbers on the back.

This china cabinet is in vintage as-pictured condition, showing wear consistent with age and use including surface wear, finish inconsistencies, and minor imperfections throughout. These characteristics contribute to the original vintage appeal and authenticity that many collectors appreciate. For those looking for a fully refinished example, we also offer a restored option. Restoration includes a complete professional refinishing process with sanding, staining, glazing, toning, and lacquering, along with functional adjustments to ensure all drawers and doors operate smoothly and the china cabinet is ready for everyday use.
