This 1960s Bassett Mayan lowboy dresser is a distinctive example of American Mid Century Modern design, combining clean-lined form with bold decorative detailing. The long, low profile sits on tapered legs, giving the piece a light, elevated presence while maintaining its substantial horizontal proportions. The warm wood finish is complemented by carved, vertically mounted Mayan-style inlay panels that punctuate the front and create a striking rhythmic pattern against the smooth drawer faces and cabinet doors.

The front is organized with symmetrical storage on either side of two central cabinet doors, creating a balanced and architectural composition. Each side features stacked drawers accented with the signature carved inlay strips, while the center opens to reveal additional drawers behind the doors. The top surface is broad and uninterrupted, emphasizing the dresser’s sleek silhouette, while the recessed drawer pulls and flush door fronts maintain a streamlined mid century aesthetic that reads cohesive from every angle.

As pictured, this dresser is in vintage original condition and shows honest signs of age and use, including surface wear, light scratches, and patina consistent with its history. Prior to shipping, it will receive a routine cleaning and light touch-ups to help it present at its best while preserving its original character. Alternatively, the dresser can be vintage restored upon request, which would include professional refinishing of the wood surfaces and careful detailing of all drawer fronts and carved inlays for a refreshed, more uniform appearance.
