Vintage Kent Coffey Dressers
Kent Coffey was a High Point, North Carolina furniture manufacturer that produced some of the most distinctive mid-century modern bedroom furniture made in America. Their Perspecta, Tableau, and Stardust collections from the 1950s and 1960s combined walnut veneer, sculptural hardware, and graphic carved details to create pieces that stand apart from the more restrained output of their contemporaries.
The Perspecta line is Kent Coffey most recognized — bedroom suites featuring geometric relief panels on case fronts, dramatic tapered legs, and coordinated pieces from headboards to chests. Walnut was the primary material, used in book-matched veneer panels that show off the wood natural grain variation. Hardware tends toward large, sculptural bail pulls or integrated carved drawer faces.
Vintage Kent Coffey dressers are typically well-built: solid wood frames, dovetailed drawer boxes, and veneer work that holds up well with age. The decorative carved details remain crisp on most surviving examples, evidence of how seriously the production quality was taken.
At Mod City Mad, our vintage Kent Coffey dressers are sourced from estate sales and private homes. Each piece is inspected for structural soundness, veneer integrity, hardware completeness, and drawer function before listing. We carry both original-condition examples and professionally restored pieces.
If you collect American mid-century bedroom furniture, Kent Coffey deserves a place on your list — distinctive design, strong regional production history, and pieces that have aged remarkably well.
